Ganga: A Saga of Bhagirathi

A dance ballet organized by Alternative Futures

Alternative Futures organized a dance ballet “Ganga- the saga of Bhagirathi” in collaboration with the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) on Saturday, September 13, at the NDMC Convention Center, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi.

The event commenced with an introduction of the ballet, the artists and a brief insight into the significance and value of river Ganga. Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Joint Secretary and Mission Director, NMCG inaugurated the event by the ceremonial ‘lighting of the lamp’ following which Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s congratulatory message to NMCG and AF on holding the event was shared with the audience. This was followed by the welcome address by Mr. Rakesh Kapoor, Managing Trustee of Alternative Futures.

The ballet performance was choreographed and led by the Odissi dancer Sharmila Ganguly Bhartari with the narration done by Padmashree Tom Alter and music by a talented team of musicians led by Shailendra Singh Rawat of Dehradun. It was a creative and attractive depiction of the plight and abysmal pollution of the river Ganga, inspiring the audience to rise and do their bit to cleanse and restore the purity and glory the river Ganga.
